They may live an eight-plus hour drive away from Sin City, but that hasn't stopped San Diego's Louis XIV from becoming super-pals with fellow rockers, the Killers, whose second record they helped out on. Beyond the two bands' mutual love of shaggy haircuts, wearing suits on stage and an obsession with Brit pop, Louis XIV, like the Killers, are fond of penning snappy, fuzzed-up glammy tunes that have people wondering if they're just faking their yank accents. Louis XIV, fronted by Jason Hill and Brian Karscig and rounded off by bassist Jimmy Armbrust and drummer Mark Maigaard, rose to fame in 2005, dropping the Illegal Tender EP. They followed that up by the slick full-length debut, The Best Little Secrets Are Kept, the following year. Their sophomore album, Slick Dogs and Ponies, hit stores this January. |
